Portofino is the iconic Italian Riviera fishing village turned superyacht magnet — limited berths, dramatic Mt Portofino backdrop, and the heart of Ligurian yacht culture.

The destination

Yachting in Portofino.

Portofino is one of the most photographed and most expensive ports in the Mediterranean. The natural harbour is small (40-50 berths inside the historic moles, plus rotating buoys outside) and the access requires either a confirmed reservation or anchoring offshore on the buoy field. Despite — or because of — the constraints, Portofino remains the most aspirational Ligurian destination.

Yacht activity is intense June-September. The Italian Riviera season concentrates 25-40 metre flybridges and 30+ metre superyachts in the Portofino-Santa Margherita-Camogli triangle, with charter handovers, owner gatherings, and the regional charter season culminating in late August.

Cruising context. From Portofino, the natural arcs cover the Cinque Terre to the south-east (Vernazza, Manarola, Riomaggiore — anchoring required, no marina), Genoa and the Italian Riviera coast to the west, and Corsica/Sardinia to the south (overnight passages). Onshore: Castello Brown, Punta del Capo, and the village itself remain the icons of the destination.
