Where we work

An Italian brokerage, run from Rome and Valencia.

NewSail has brokered yachts out of Rome since 2003. The desk on Via Lubriano covers the Lazio coast — Fiumicino, Lido di Ostia, Riva di Traiano, Nettuno and Civitavecchia — and from there the whole Tyrrhenian: Sardinia, Tuscany, Liguria and the Amalfi Coast. Our Valencia office covers mainland Spain and the Balearics. Beyond those two home markets we work Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and the Turkish Aegean.

Straight answers

What owners and buyers ask first.

Where is NewSail based?
NewSail is an Italian yacht brokerage with its head office in Rome at Via Lubriano 9, 00189, and a second office in Valencia, Spain at Calle Poeta Querol 11. The company was founded in Rome in 2003.
Who will I actually deal with?
Alessandro Merlino, founder and principal broker, handles the brokerage desk himself. He is an IOR-class regatta sailor and the skipper of the 45-foot sloop Adelante, and he has represented buyers and owners on the Mediterranean since 2003.
Which cruising grounds do you cover?
Italy (Lazio and the Rome coast, Sardinia, Tuscany, Liguria, the Amalfi Coast and Sicily), Spain including the Balearics, the French Côte d'Azur, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and the Turkish Aegean.
Do buyers pay a separate fee?
No. On listings within our brokered network our compensation is built into the seller-side commission, so there is no separate buyer retainer. For off-market searches outside that pipeline we agree a fixed scope in writing before starting.
Can you handle Italian VAT and flag registration?
Yes. We verify EU VAT status before survey, compare Italian, Maltese and British flag options against your intended use and residency, and work with maritime lawyers in each jurisdiction to close and register cleanly.
How quickly do you reply to an enquiry?
Within one working day, in Italian, English or Spanish. Rome desk hours are 09:00-19:00 CET Monday to Friday and 10:00-14:00 on Saturday.
