Argentario is the Tuscan promontory — Porto Ercole on one side, Porto Santo Stefano on the other, the Orbetello lagoon between them. As a charter base it gives you both relaxed cruising (north to Tuscany, south to Giglio) and a beautiful place to start or end the trip. Spanish fortresses, lagoon birdlife, and the local seafood tradition (Acquacotta, fish soups, sea bass alla brace) make Argentario a more cultured alternative to Sardinia.
